22 tackled the Dirty McDeuce this morning, and it went something like this:

Capri lap then mosey to bball court for warmarama.  Stay in circle to execute ye ol’ Dirty McDeuce (4 sets of 3 exercises with 12 reps ea)=

  • merkins, squats, WWII
  • Lap around the quad in columns
  • Werkins, lunges, leg raises
  • Lap around the quad in columns
  • Clerkins, Lt Dan, flutters
  • Series of bear crawls, crab walks, braid jump burpees
  • burpees, side lunges, dollies
  • sprints

Circle back up for some Mary then Bagger took us out in the COT.  Be in the present moment!

15 posted in the gloom to get a little better this morning, and it went something like this:

Quick disclaimer then circle up in the Racetrack lot for warmarama then mosey to park loop for some Cindy’ish fun= run ten laps around the park stopping at the pull-up bars for 5 pull-ups and 10 merkins and stopping at the back porch for 10 squats and 10 WWII during each lap.  We also broke up the fun with “burpee breaks” of 5 burpees to be executed wherever you are on the course every 3 minutes.

Form up in columns on the field for some old school football “grass drills” = chopping feet with calls to roll right, left, backwards and forward on the Q’s call.  Fun was had by all!

Mosey back to lot for Mary.

Six redwoods posted on Christmas Eve Eve to conduct one more version of the Twelve Days of Christmas, and John Denver and Muppets kicked us off.  It went something like this…

Mosey to foot of steps behind BHS STEM building to complete the following in escalating order:

  • One Bear Crawl Up and Down the Stairs
  • Two block curls with halos ea. direction
  • Three block tricep extensions
  • Four block squats
  • Five block merkins
  • Six times up and down the stairs
  • Seven block swings
  • Eight lawn mower pulls ea. arm
  • Nine block presses
  • Ten jump tucks
  • Eleven block sit-ups
  • Twelve block burpees

Mosey the blocks back to Leatherneck’s sled and COT.

NMM:  TClaps to Boone’s who able to EH Wish List into coming out this fine morning, and we wish him the best as he prepares for his OCS boards in the Spring.  Hopefully F3 Chattanooga can help him along the way.

Super Coupon Monday

Seven redwoods posted to get a bit stronger with coupons today, and it went something like this:

Mosey around to Murray Ln and then back for warmarama.., the usual stuff.  Next we grabbed coupons out of Leatherneck’s sled to commence a coupon fest that bared no resemblance to the running only workouts of the past two weeks.  The fun included: curls, squats, single leg squats, deadlifts, lawnmowers, goblet squats, various merkin configurations, and Umbrella’s favorite, the weighted sit-up.

Stay in the Flow

Eight strong got after it this morning with some fun and exciting new kettlebell  flow exercises.  Here’s how it went down.

Mosey to gym to collect kb’s.  Form-up at the base of the auditorium steps for the following:

Modified Dora: Partner up for P1 to execute the following while P2 executes alternating waiter’s carry and farmer’s carry of kb.

  • 50 merkin rows
  • 100 squats
  • 150 weighted situps
  • 200 kb swings

Circle up for kb flows with repeat x2=

  • kb dead lift to drop squat x10
  • kb curl to halo x10
  • kb clean to twisting press x10
  • kb bridge press and over x10

Mosey back to the lot for some quick Mary then COT with Bag of Ants taking us out.

Plague of Locust

9 Posted for a glorious 70 and sunny morning to get a bit better in the Racetrack parking garage. It went something like this:

Mosey to parking lot for brief warmup COP then mosey to the bottom level of the garage for a quick round of pole smokers.  Mosey up the deck to the first ramp to begin execute the following exercises on the ramps and sprint the flats:  lunges, bear crawl, broad jump burpee, crab walk, backwards run.

Execute more pole smokers on the top level and repeat the exercises as we descended the garage.  Then execute one more round of pole smokers.

Mosey to pull-up bars for pyramid to five and back down.  Mosey back to the flag for Mary.

14(+3) Redwoods climbed the hill for a kettlebell swinging good time this morning.  Here’s how it went down:

Mosey to gym 1 to collect sandbags, mosey to gym 2 to collect kettlebells and commence warmarama outside.  Then circle up for kettlebell flow sequence:

  • 1 min single arm kb swing
  • 30s ea arm kb clean
  • 30s ea arm kb clean
  • 30s ea arm kb snatch
  • 30s ea arm kb clean and press
  • 30s ea arm kb lunge
  • 1 min goblet quats
  • 1 min 2 hand kb swing
  • 30s single leg kb deadlift
  • 8 kb “swing burpees”

Divvy up sandbags for shoulder switch relay= KB on right shoulder then run ~25 yrds, drop sb, lift to left shoulder, run 25 yds, switch again and repeat on the trip back.  Repeato 2x

Repeat kb flow noted above, return all coupons and head back to the lot for some Mary.

NMM:  This is a rough repeat of one of the first workouts YHC led at The Hill many moons ago.  It’s such a great AO with lots to do.  It’s also fun when Venus decides to employ his death metal scream when lifting weights.  It could be a great addition to the act.

NMM: The PAX may seemed hesitant as to what YHC would do this morning: pilates, meditation, circle… , but all doubts were removed when the coupons rained forth from YHC’s sled.  Fun times had by all!

Disclaimer then mosey to GWP for pull-up pyramid to 5 and back down.  Head to bball court and line up in rows for what was possibly Nashville’s first yoga themed workout.

Three sun salutaions followed by a flow through the following poses with up and down dog in between each pose:  Runner’s Pose, Crescent Pose, Warrior One, Warrior Two, Reverse Warrior, Triangle Pose, Twisting Triangle, Chair to Twisting Chair, Right-Angle Pose, Right-Angle Pose & Grab , Prayer twist from Runner’s Pose to Side Arm Balance, tree, standing leg extension.

Mosey back to BMS lot for COT.  YHC Took us out.

NMM:  YHC promised something different, and the giggles and calls for yoga pants seemed to indicate victory.  Some of the PAX, YHC included, seemed a bit banged up from Saturday’s ruck, and this seemed like a good time to try this.  YHC is certainly no yogi, but we put a few poses together, and it seems we all could use more balance work.  Question to the broader PAX, should these workouts be called Foga, Yog3, other?
