III Pillars – 06.25.19 – “Bicentennial’s Favorite”

8 PAX hit up the hill of all hills on a mini-field trip at III Pillars. All lived to talk about it.

QIC: Princess Aurora

PAX: Bicentennial Man, Boone’s Farm, DFrost, En Fuego, Esso (The Fort), Hipster, Pumpkin Spice

THE THANG:

After a quick disclaimer and an apology to Bicentennial Man, PAX we led on a medium mosey over to the parking garage entrance across from Mt. Covenant and convened for a COP, all IC:

  • SSH x 15
  • WMH x 16
  • LBAC F/R x 15
  • Merkins x 10

Gathered the PAX for a nice mosey all the way up to Covenant in hopes of getting a glimpse of downtown, but YHC didn’t really have a good enough idea of where the best sight lines were. No matter as we were as the top and that’s all that was needed.

Pair off for a some downhill relays on Mt. Covenant. P1 performs AMRAP Merkins while P2 runs to first lightpole and back. Flapjack, then RnR with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lightpoles and squats, flutter kicks, and burpees, respectively. Plank and wait for six.

All in, and it was time to descend. P1 SSH while P2 bear crawls to 1st lightpole. Upon reaching destination, P1 runs to spot and begins bear crawl while P2 stays for SSH. Continue this “leap frog” all the way down to last pole.

With everybody at the last lightpole, lock arms for synchronized Lt. Dans all the way to sidewalk, then Indian Run back to launch for Mary.

  • Jane Fondas R/L
  • Alabama Prom Dates

  • American Hammers
  • J-Lo’s
  • Crunchy Frogs
  • Bird Dogs

MOLESKINE:

Welcome to Esso from The Fort. The moment he identified himself as a Clemson graduate, I knew he was a HIM. Glad to have a fellow Tiger in the mix, even if only briefly.

YHC attempted to use a bit of reverse psychology on the PAX as they started downhill, but I believe all would argue that the uphill portion was still just as painful in spite of it. Many were suspicious of a Crawl Bear up the hill but were relieved to see that hasn’t made it out yet.

BULLHORN:

  • 7/2 – 4:13 Strong Signing Day
  • 7/4 – Convergence at Bicentennial Mall – 0530-0630
  • 7/4 – Team Job 4th of July Blowout – 1600-2000
  • 7/26 – Nightpath – Percy Warner Park – 1900 until finished
  • 8/17 – Yuck Ruck – Details TBD
  • 9/14 – F3 Nashville 5th Anniversary at Stonewall

PA out.

Bomber – 06.14.19 – “Q-Tips”

16 PAX braved a nasty 55 degrees and clear skies to heed a bit of instruction from YHC and work up a little sweat while they were at it.

QIC: Princess Aurora

PAX: Black Lung, Blue Mule, Crablegs, Crawlspace, Cub Cadet, Dewey, Duplex, Hambone, Harvey Updyke, Jam Newton, Porcelain, Pumpkin Spice, Tiny Dancer, T-Cell, Trapper Keeper

THE THANG:

Following a comprehensive disclaimer, YHC took the pax on a light mosey down the driveway in hopes of peeping the situation with all the blue lights seen on the way in, but alas, they had gone. Mosey continued up to the upper lot for COP:

Q-Tip: When calling exercises and counting cadence, remember to keep it PC. There are Preparatory Commands for each command, and a pause in between to allow for understanding. The preparatory command describes and specifies what is required. All preparatory commands are given with rising voice inflection. The command of execution calls into action what has been prescribed. The interval between the two commands should be long enough to permit the pax to understand the first one before the second one is given.

“Starting position *pause* Move!”

“In cadence *pause* Exercise!”

  • SSH x 15
  • Squats x 10
  • Imperial Walkers x 10
  • Merkins x 10

Somewhere in the middle of this, another mini-Q-tip was given: praise individuals, critique en masse.

Q-Tip: Never underestimate the power of simplicity.

Pax are instructed to perform 10 Hand-release Merkins (Modify to Merkins if necessary) and 10 Jump Squats (Modify to Squats if necessary), and repeat that sequence until time is called. What felt like 10 minutes was really only 4. Mission accomplished.

Q-Tip: Mix it up! There are muscles in our backs and posterior chain that desperately need our love, and it’s too easy to call Merkins and Burpees sometimes.

Having moseyed down to the jungle gym and divided into three groups, it’s time for some circuit training. Group 1 runs a lap around the community center while Group 2 performs Lunges AMRAP and Group 3 performs Pull-ups/Rows AMRAP.  Upon running group’s return, rotate. RnR for two rounds total.

Q-Tip: A good hill is hard to find. Use it if you’ve got it.

Pax line up at the base of the hill at Bomber and travel up to the stop sign using various modes of transportation followed by a mosey back to the line to plank and wait for six. Rounds are as follows:

  1. Broad Jump
  2. Reverse Duck Walk (Nae Nae was a suggested Exicon addition for this)
  3. Bernie Sanders

Q-Tip: Acronyms are your friend. They help you remember your plan when the Qdrenaline is spiking, and they help the pax make sense of the routine.

In honor of Bomber, partner up for some B.O.M.B.S. That’s

  • Burpees x 50
  • Overhead Press x 100
  • Merkins x 150
  • Big Boys Sit-ups x 200
  • Squats x 250

Most made it at least to the Big Boy Sit-ups and there were even some squatters when YHC had to issue another…

Q-Tip: ‘Tis better to plan too much than too little.

With under 3 minutes left, it was obvious the B.O.M.B.S. would run over, so it was time for Mary.

  • Crunchy Frogs x 15
  • Boxcutters x 7

COT/BOM

MOLESKINE:

This was a fun workout to Q as the Q-Tips really kept me in line but also allowed for a lot of variety. Hopefully the PAX felt the same. Hambone was designated mumblechatterer per usual and was especially loose with the tongue this morning. Smiles, laughter, cursing, hands on knees, attempted muscle-ups, Pumpkin Spice name ideas. It had all the best parts of a classic F3 Nashville workout. You’re welcome.

On a more serious note, I took the opportunity to remind the pax that F3 is not a workout group; it’s a leadership group. Leading is not about being the loudest, the fastest, or the strongest. It’s using your strengths to inspire and build up the strengths of others. Q-ing a workout doesn’t come easy for everybody, but I believe that through Q-ing, each man has an opportunity to share the strengths they do have. One might be awful at counting cadence but blows everybody away with creative exercises and routines. One might dread the thought of standing in front of a bunch of grown men telling them what to do, but Qs a very effective (read: painful) workout.

Setting aside insecurities, fears, and pride for the sake of sharing the gifts you have to offer inspires and instills a confidence in those around you. It makes them say, “hey, I have something to share, too, and I think these guys need it.”

And you know what? We do.

Atlantis – 06.13.19 – “PCMBBJ”

5 PAX including one Willy Loman from Chattanooga posted for a treat of a workout on this treat of a morning.

QIC: Princess Aurora

PAX: Crablegs, Pumpkin Spice, Trapper Keeper, WuzntMe (Chatt)

THE THANG:

Disclaimer and medium mosey around the lower lot into COP:

  • SSH x 25
  • LBAC F x 10 – Hold for 20ct
  • LBAC R x 10 – Hold for 10ct
  • Seal Claps x 10 – Hold for 13ct
  • Overhead Press x 20 – Hold for 10ct
  • Alabama Prom Date x 15

Line up along median for a Suicide Ladder. PAX sprint to 1st light pole and back, performing 5 Froggies before running to 2nd pole. Repeat with remaining two poles, then plank and wait for six.

RnR upping the Froggies to 10 at each return to the starting line.

Short little hop over to the swings for some standing (more like rolling) Elevens. Start with 1 Underdog, then roll over to perform 9 Gracies (both sides=1)

Step up to the low wall across from the water tank to introduce the PAX to the Prison Cell Merkin Burpee Box Jump. (Visit https://f3nation.com/exercises/ to learn more. You’ll figure it out.)  PCMBBJ x 10 followed by a lap around the gravel path surrounding the tank. Plank and wait for six. RnR with 9, then 8.

Mosey back over to the lot for some Mary:

  • Flutter Kicks x 20
  • Jane Fondas x 15 ea side
  • Crunchy Frogs x 15
  • Hello Dollies x 15

COT/BOM

MOLESKINE:

It was good to welcome WuzntMe from Chattanooga even if he is a Gamecock. F3 is open to all men after all. From the start of the suicide ladder, YHC wondered if he’d started things off a bit too rough, but the casual mumblechatter with Pumpkin Spice throughout said otherwise.

Also worth noting are that the Gracies will get you, and the PCMB and all its mutant offspring will definitely make another appearance. Perhaps even tomorrow.

BULLHORN:

III Pillars – 06.04.19 – “Leggy”

5 hit up the Pillars of Three for a fiery assault on the lower body.

QIC: Princess Aurora

PAX: Bad Boy, Boone’s Farm, DFrost, En Fuego

THE THANG:

Medium mosey over to the track for a proper warmup in the COP:

  • SSH x 15
  • Jane Fondas R/L x 20
  • Alabama Prom Dates x 20
  • WMH x 20
  • LBAC F/R x 15

Each PAX gets three cones and lines up along the end of the field. PAX were instructed to take 10 Lunges forward, drop a cone, and repeat x 2. This was to adapt the workout to each man’s kinesiological tendencies and ensure all were doing the same number of reps.

Lining back up at the start, PAX then performed the following progression, lunging between cones:

  • Starting Line: 10 Merkins
  • Cone 1: 20 Merkins
  • Cone 2: 25 Merkins
  • Cone 3: 30 Merkins
  • Sprint back and plank/Air Chair for six

Round 2 was Jump Squats (#crowdpleaser) and Round 3 Big Boy Sit-Ups. For the final round, it was 30 Merks at Cone 1, 30 Jump Squats at Cone 2, and 30 BBSUs at Cone 3.

Skip on over to the playground for some pull-up action. Each PAX calls an exercise for the group and performs 15 Pull-Ups. RnR for round 2 with 8 reps.

After a quick gathering of the cones, the group made their way to the bottom of the side ramp to torch the legs one last time with Bernie Sanders up the hill x 5.

Mosey back for Mary:

  • Flutter Kicks
  • Leg Raises
  • LBCs

COT/BOM

MOLESKINE:

The howling was strong during the lunge ladder, and it reached a crescendo during those 30 Jump Squats. There was certainly much cursing under my breath and some jelly legs. Bad Boy even crapped himself a little.

BULLHORN:

  • Prayers for Penny Loafers’s M and praises and continued prayer for the improved condition of Aaron whom Bad Boy has mentioned was in a skateboarding accident a few weeks ago
  • June 21 – Leadership lunch brought to you by Vector – HC by June 17
  • July 4 – Convergence at Bicentennial Mall
  • Late July/Early August: Social Ruck CSAUP
  • September 14: 5th Anniversary Workout – Save the date!
  • Late October/Early November: TN CAN RUCK 002!
  • Be on the lookout for some site upgrades and other new initiatives to help connect the PAX and disseminate information

Atlantis – 05.30.19 – “Lingchi”

7 PAX experienced the lingering death at Atlantis this week. At least the weather was nice!

QIC: Princess Aurora

PAX: Crablegs, Crawlspace, Lunch Lady, Right Said, Trapper Keeper, FNG Woodstock

THE THANG:

Disclaimer and long mosey around the lower fields with some Buttkickers, High Knees, Side Shuffles, and Backpedals strewn throughout. Back to the flag for COP:

  • SSH x 20
  • WMH x 20
  • SnL Squats x 15
  • LBAC x 15
  • Overhead Claps x 15
  • RLBAC x 15

Torture time! YHC quizzed the PAX to see if anyone knew what “lingchi” was.

*Crickets*

So, a quick educational moment for you, dear reader: lingchi is the term given to an old torture and execution technique during which the “recipient” had small pieces of flesh cut away over time. Westerners came to call it “death by a thousand cuts,” and that was to be our theme of the day.

As a group, the aim was to complete 1000 reps of the following:

  • Clerkins
  • Upright Rows (30# plate)
  • Thrusters
  • Sumo Squats (CMU)

After a rocky start in terms of tracking reps (#Qfail), we eventually settled in to a system of marking on the pavement as reps were completed. No surprise that the Thrusters were the first to be knocked out. While time ran out with our counts for Upright Rows and Sumo Squats somewhere in the high 800s, most impressive was that we completed the Clerkins in the eleventh hour. That’s 143 clap merkins each, and if you’ve never done that, YHC recommends you keep it that way.

COT/BOM

MOLESKINE:

Tclaps to everybody for dogging this one out. Had YHC not dragged you around for a half-mile and 5′ COP to start, 1000 reps would’ve been hit across the board. Special shoutout to FNG Woodstock for enduring this as his first workout. Please come back!

Other observations: the scent of fresh cut “grass” in the air, Right Said always keeps a pen and pad handy, and sometimes you just don’t need Mary to close it out.

BULLHORN:

  • June 21: Vector Leadership Lunch at Thistle Farms
  • Late July/Early August: Social Ruck CSAUP
  • September 14: 5th Anniversary Workout – Save the date!
  • Late October/Early November: TN CAN RUCK 002!
  • Be on the lookout for some site upgrades and other new initiatives to help connect the PAX and disseminate information.

III Pillars – 04.30.19 – “Super Dora”

6 PAX hit the beautiful blue track at III Pillars for a heroic edition of Dora 1-2-3. Conditions were super.

QIC: Princess Aurora

PAX: Boone’s Farm, Deuce (WL-Jackson), En Fuego, R/eddit, Tampa Libra

THE THANG:

Disclaimer with a quick interruption by En Fuego to punish the PAX for failing to complete his challenge of serving our wives with one random act of kindness. 12 8ct Body Builders later, we took a mosey around the lot and up to the track for a COP:

  • SSH
  • SnL Squats
  • WMH
  • LBAC F/R
  • Merkins

Partner up and mosey over to the playground for a Jump/Pull superset, a staple in any superhero’s training program. P1 performs SSH x 75 while P2 performs pull-ups AMRAP. Flapjack. RnR x2 with every person having one opportunity to sub the SSH with the heavy rope jumps.

Keeping same partners, mosey back to the track for Super Dora. P1 runs a lap around the track while P2 performs the exercises, tagging out after each lap until all reps are complete.

  • Peter Parkers x 50 (each side)
  • Iron (Man) Mikes x 75 (each side)
  • Captain Thors (1 BBS+4 American Hammers) x 100

Time for a blind buddy run in honor of Vision. P1 closes his eyes and runs the track while P2 verbally and physically guides them. Flapjack.

Back to the parking lot for a little Mary and COT/BOM.

MOLESKINE:

Great to have R/eddit back out and Deuce joining us from Jackson, MS. Many collisions were narrowly avoided during the blind runs, but I believe all fully trusted their partner and never opened their eyes. It’s possible that Boone’s Farm ingested some Super Soldier Serum as he seemed to be the most fit and agile. Tailgate coffeeteria was especially enjoyable.

BULLHORN:

  • Nolensville killed it with 28 at the inaugural CSAUP,  The Gauntlet. Look out for these guys!
  • 5/27 – Memorial Day Murphocalypse at Concord YMCA – 0500 – Come for the Murph, power through the WOD, and stay for the Speed Ruck
  • Redesigned Scorpion shirts should finally be coming!

PA out.

Westeros – 04.15.19 – “Taxman”

15 rendered unto the Q the things that are the Q’s at Westeros this morning.

QIC: Princess Aurora

PAX: Bad Boy, Bicentennial Man, BnB, Crablegs, Crawlspace, Cunning Linguist, Harvey Updyke, Hi-Viz, Pop-A-Lock, Porcelain, Pumpkin Spice, Right Said, Toothless, Vector

THE THANG:

No frills mosey to the RCC lot for a COP:

  • SSH x 15
  • WMH x 16
  • Merkins x 15
  • LBAC F/R x 15
  • SnL Squats x 15

Count off into teams of four and then mosey to the hill at Fairfax and Marlborough. Time to pay your taxes!

One member from each team would run the hill up to Acklen while the rest of the group performed AMRAP of the following:

  • Thighmasters
  • American Hammers
  • Cross(X)Fit Merkins aka Hand-Release Merkins

When runner returns, pax rotate to the next exercise until each member has run. RnR two more times, but not without an audit after each round!

  1. Burpees x 15
  2. Jump Squats x 15
  3. Clerkins x 15

Line up for an Indian Run down Marlborough to Elmington and then medium mosey back to the lot for Mary.

  • Flutter Kicks x 15
  • Hello Dollies with arms pointing up x 15
  • Leg Raises with arms overhead x 15

COT/BOM

MOLESKINE:

A few highlights: Right Said and Crawlspace just can’t get enough of the Indian Run. AMRAP American Hammers are terrible. Nice to have BnB back in the fold. Crawlspace is trying to cop that Bad Boy look with the new ‘do.

BULLHORN:

  • 4/25 – Leadership Lunch with Tom Ward, CEO of the Oasis Center, at Crievewood Baptist
  • 5/4 – The Gauntlet CSAUP in Nolensville
  • 5/27 – Memorial Day Murph CSAUP Convergence Extravaganza – Murph, WOD, Speed Ruck. Come for one or all!

PA out.

III Pillars – 04.02.19 – “Mean Hills”

Fearless Site Q, En Fuego, called out YHC on Slack. YHC responded as 4 PAX endured a hill-acious workout at III Pillars this morning.

QIC: Princess Aurora

PAX: Boone’s Farm, En Fuego, Silver Medal

THE THANG:

A quick disclaimer including confirmation of today’s intended destination was followed by a mosey to said destination and a COP at the base of that destination consisting of the following:

  • SSH x 15
  • WMH x 16
  • Imperial Walkers x 15
  • SnL Squats x 15
  • LBAC x 15
  • Seal Claps x 15

With that fluff out of the way, YHC took the PAX to the base of Mount Covenant to explain the oh-so-simple workout. PAX were instructed to run up the hill 15 times individually 30 times as a group.  Should PAX require a running break, they could perform Merkins, Flutter Kicks, or SSH as rest.

A few if not all took at least one Merk break to give the legs a chance to remove some lactic acid, but the hill never ceased to do its share of the work. As PAX finished up their 7th trip, all waited to do one last trip together (2 rep bonus!) with the added fun of a ~50-yard Bernie Sanders about two-thirds of the way up.

Mosey back to SPCA for 60 rep Ring of Fire with both Merkins and Squats followed by Mary:

  • Shoulder Taps x 20
  • Jane Fondas R/L x 20
  • Alabama Prom Dates x 20
  • Plank x 30″

COT/BOM

MOLESKINE:

It is certainly appreciated that any PAX would show up after the obvious forecast of a trip to Mount Covenant. Apparently the one set of hill suicides from the last Q have become the stuff of legend. YHC won’t always spill the beans on future Qs, but rest assured it will be revisited. Strong work out there by all.

BULLHORN:

  • April 13 – Warpath
  • May 4 – The Gauntlet
  • August 23-24 – GrowRuck Atlanta
  • En Fuego’s your 12th Man of the month, so be on the lookout for some communication from him around leadership.

Always a pleasure, gentlemen, and remember: there’s something in these hills.

PA out.

03.26.19 – Sir Ellington – “THE Loop”

13 showed up to entangle themselves in a PA-Sir E love affair. Only one Prevaculated.

QIC: Princess Aurora

PAX: Bagger Vance, Black Lung, Blue Mule, Boyband, CCR, Dupree, Edible Arrangement, Parks and Rec (Naperville), Prevac (LIFO), PSL, Red Skull, Too Tall

THE THANG:

Disclaimer followed by a mosey around the church and over to the main circle drive for agility drills and “exploration.” Back down to the base of the driveway for COP.

  • SSH x 10
  • Squats x 20
  • WMH x 10
  • Good Mornings x 10
  • LBACs x 10
  • Moroccan Night Clubs x 10
  • Seal Claps x 10
  • Merkins x 10
  • Mountain Climbers x 10

For the main event partner up. While one partner completes AMRAP of leg exercise at the base, the other runs up the right (south) side of the driveway loop to the house and performs 10 reps of a Merkin variation before returning to tag their partner out. Plank and wait for six between each round.

  • Round 1: Squats/Hand Release Merkins
  • Round 2: Lunges/Clerkins
  • Round 3: Jump Squats/Renegade Merkins (Merk,Row R, Merk Row L, Merk=1)

Indian Run up and around the loop and back across the street to the playground.

With partners, PAX complete max number of pull-ups plus 5 assisted pull-ups. Flapjack. For round two, PAX subtracted 5 from their unassisted max and performed that number. Flapjack.

Circle up for some Mary:

  • Flutter Kicks x 15
  • Alabama Prom Dates x 10
  • Jane Fondas x 20 (R/L)
  • American Hammers x 15
  • Long Slow Flutters x 10

Joe Hendricks up to the lot and mosey back to flag for COT/BOM

MOLESKINE:

It’s always a good time at Sir Ellington, even when YHC doesn’t quite remember the lay of the land and all that crazy Shire lingo (“Which loop?” “THE LOOP.”). Glad to have Parks and Rec passing through from F3 Naperville. An F3er since September, he and YHC had a good chat about how much F3 has filled a void he didn’t know existed and how he has since been able to give it away to others in life, strangers and friends alike. Just remember, men: sometimes it’s not about showing up because we need it. It’s showing up because it might just be the day that there’s somebody else out there that needs us.

BULLHORN:

  • Lifting up the Newells, Carter, and Black Lung’s M’s aunt in prayer.
  • Wed 3/27, Mental Health Day at all your Wednesday AOs. Qs will end about 5 minutes early to allow for an extended COT. The purpose of this will be for folks to discuss depression and suicide awareness. Please know that if this is something you deal with, there are guys in this group that would love nothing more than to listen and step into the struggle with you.
  • Fri 3/29, 12th Man Leadership Lunch with retired US Army Ranger, John Belman.  11:30 at Richland Country Club. Link to RSVP. See more details on the Slack #leadership channel or contact Bagger Vance.
  • Sat 4/13, Warpath CSAUP in Franklin
  • Sat 5/4, The Gauntlet CSAUP in Nolensville

The Scorpion – 03.23.19 – “Success”

In what was arguably perfect weather, 23 PAX conquered F3 Nashville’s inaugural “Wild West” CSAUP, The Scorpion, this weekend and celebrated with McDonald’s and a birthday song. Special appearances and support from three other PAX.

QIC: Crablegs, Porcelain, Princess Aurora, Pumpkin Spice, Vector

PAX: Bad Boy (Stonewaudible), Bagger Vance (30#), Big Bang (30#), Black Lung, Blue Mule, Brother-at-law (Stonewaudible), Crawlspace, Cunning Linguist, Floppy Disk, Hambone, Hi-Viz (Photography/Sag Wagon), Leatherneck (30#), Ludwig Von Oshkosh, Mystery Machine, Pop-A-Lock, Reveille, Right Said, T-Cell, Tampa Libra, Tiny Dancer (30#), Trapper Keeper

THE THANG:

Princess Aurora

Following a PAX count, the usual disclaimer, and some extra instructions for the undertaking at hand, YHC took the PAX on a medium mosey up and around the Hill of Sisyphus and back to the Great Lawn for a COP, all exercises IC:

  • SSH x 43 (HBD BV!)
  • Chinooks x 10
  • Overhead Press x 10
  • Reverse LBAC x 10
  • Peter Parker x 10
  • Imperial Walkers x 10
  • Overhead Squats x 10
  • Newton’s Cradle x 10

Porcelain (Titan)

In the epicenter of the Athens of the South, this Q was heavily inspired by famous Greek battles and the years in and means by which they occurred. PAX divide into three teams and grab a picnic table, their ship for the battle. Whilst making their way around the entirety of Lake Watauga, PAX must complete as a team the following exercises and reps, avoiding the enemies’ attempts to block them along the way:

  • 490 Carolina Dry Docks
  • 480 Exaggerated Leg Raises
  • 300 Box Jumps
  • 479 Merkins

Winning team gets fewer burpees. Called for time (Qvantage: YHC)

2.5 miles to Westeros with a quick detour around Love Circle (for about half the PAX. Instructions clear for several, but not clear enough for all. YHC will own it.)

Pumpkin Spice (Westeros)

Making up for lost time, Pumpkin Spice dished out this short doozie:

  • Burpee Broad Jump down the sidewalk ~50 yards to WEMS steps
  • Crawl Bear up stairs
  • Sideways Bear across
  • Bear Crawl down stairs
  • Burpee Broad Jump another ~30 yards

Flutter Kicks for six and mosey back to start.

2.1 miles to Bomber.

Vector (Bomber)

A HIM known for his musical Q’s (and cues), Vector started the PAX off with a buy-in of 19 Burpees and 27 Squats paying homage to the AO’s former life as an airport created in 1927. With that out of the way, PAX were instructed to do three sets of Sevens, holding People’s Chair between each set and enduring the promised cheesy 80s playlist:

  • Set 1: Bulgarian Split Squats/Overhead Squats
  • Set 2: Merkins/Big Boy Sit-ups
  • Set 3: Erkins (variant spelling on Irkins originating somewhere near 51st and Nevada)/Rows/Pull-ups

2.5 Miles to Atlantis

Crablegs (Atlantis)

Short on time, but not on spirit, Crablegs closed the CSAUP out with two Atlantis signature exercises and a tribute to birthday boy Bagger. Quick hop over to the swings for Steve Irwins x 43. When you’re not rowing, Moroccan Night Club like a boss.

All in, and the CSAUP is complete.

COT/BOM

MOLESKINE:

Thank you to everybody who posted for this event as it’s been a long time coming. Nashville’s last AO-to-AO CSAUP was the original Ironclad in 2015, an event that introduced to F3 a curious bystander walking with his kid through Centennial Park. That bystander was none other than the HIM we came to know as Crawfish. YHC likes to think at least one guy saw us out there and thought to himself, “I need to know more.”

Hearty tclaps to Hi-Viz for playing photographer/videographer/support vehicle/catering. It’s a committed man who wakes up at 6am on a Saturday to walk around snapping photos of guys doing stupid and hard things. Or maybe it’s just a sadist. I’m banking on the former, though.

By my numbers, we had almost 11 miles including the workouts. Not bad! Also, excellent job by all the Qs coming up with four very different workouts and being willing to adjust on the fly. The Scorpion next year will be the chance for some new HIM to show us what they’ve got!
