THE THANG: 3 mile mosey with periodic merkins and core

We took off for a mosey and as we hit the trail, Robert Frost’s words echoed in my mind – two paths diverged in a yellow wood. But unlike the poet, there was no luxury of contemplation. With the last shirtless weekend of summer calling I ditched my plan and pushed the PAX through the 3 mile loop around McCabe.

Three miles of sweat and glory lay ahead, punctuated by surprise stops for merkins and core-busters. The Playlist? Pure pontoon rock – think yacht rock’s rowdier country cousin. As we pushed through, letting the six catch up at each pit stop, we sculpted our summer bodies with every step.

MOLESKINE: No one was planning on running that far, and everyone pushed through it! Do Hard Things

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Big shout out to Strings and Marcus Wilcock (Homer) joining us down range from the UK, and also Linus from Tacoma WA!

growruck.com/event/gte-55/ is Sept 20-22 if you can make a last minute trip across the pond

COT: Prayers were lifted!

Thank you men of bomber and DintyMoore for inviting me to lead. It was great to come back to the original AO where I first joined F3 4 years ago!

RS-PC-T

AO: bomber
Q: sooner , Oatmeal

FNGs: None
COUNT: 13
CONDITIONS: respectable

WARMUP: mozy and a respectable amount of stretching

– 50 Freddie mercs
– 50 crunchy frogs
– 50 hammers
– 50 big boys

Oatmeal gets tired of ab work, throws sooners plan to the winds and takes over

Battle for the most respect (aka f3 bocce)
Split the pax in 2 groups… Sooner gets stuck doing 11s (burpees+star jumps) whilst oatmeal has fun and games getting his friends to play with his ‘bocce’ balls

There was a winner. They are now respected.

MOLESKINE: endeavor to follow in the footsteps of your respected forebearers

ANNOUNCEMENTS: September stuff

COT: healing and gratitude from oatmeal

I Hate Math

AO: westeros
Q: CubCadet
PAX: Tim the Toolman, Red Skull, Pep, Vector, Hedwig, Spinal Tap, Sherlock, Natural Ice
FNGs: None
COUNT: 9
CONDITIONS: Sweat thru the shirt during warmups

WARMUP: 6 pax carried 1 picnic table to the corner just because. Then last man up mosey almost to the school, turn around back to corner. Standard warmups (SSH, WMH, GM, LBAS, Squats, etc).

THE THANG:
– Pax lined up youngest to oldest (math), counted off by 3s to make teams. .
– Three teams of 3 going for max reps of exercises with movements up / down hill (to port-a-potty as marker).
– Pax A does dips at top while Pax B jogs down to Pax C who was doing BBSU at bottom. Pax B tags out Pax C who Bernies up to tag out Pax A…continue for 13 minutes. Change exercises to Merkins at top, squats at bottom for 13 more minutes.
– Team of Spinal Tap Vector and Hedwig won, 1532 to 1403 to 1252. (lots of math). Their prize was to run with medicine ball to stairs and back to flag (conspicuously missing due to bluemule “software update”)
– Rest of pax moved picnic table back then did dealer’s choice Mary, before winning team joined us.

MOLESKINE: Mental challenge was keeping track of the numbers in the song titles. All songs had numbers in title. Vector missed at least one, which means the Q won :face_with_rolling_eyes:
– Fifteen, 1000 Nights, Summer of 69, 100 Years, 3 AM, 57 Channels, 1979, 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, Positively 4th Street, 25 or 6 to 4, 365 = 3677 (last math)

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Vector is back. We missed you. Though westeros is not technically the most RESPECTed AO in Nashville, you do the math. Pep has a theory he will share about us old people. He’ll share.

COT: Prayers for a good week of leadership and fellowship. Hedwig and his wife having big tests for 2.0. Thanks for the chance to lead.

FNGs: None
COUNT: 8 (4 RESPECTs)
CONDITIONS: Thick

WARMUP: 30 seconds of waiting around to see if anything interesting was going to happen. CubCadet said “I’ll Q bc I hate those ones where each person does something for 5 minutes.” Three minutes later, Black Lung strolled up and said “I’ll Q because I think I am supposed to.” Sensing a burpee heavy Q, CubCadet said “oh no you don’t”…and the rest is Bomber history as archived on slack. .

THE THANG:
– 11s up and down the hill (Papa Bear picked monkey humpers at the bottom). The top was squats and merkins, not to be combined then confused with……
– Moved to the picnic tables. 2 sets of 15 dips, 15 incline merkins, and 10 step-ups each side.
– Bernie to start. Dealer’s choice, up to 25 reps. Ended at 6:13 much to the discontent of Black Lung

MOLESKINE: Nothing insightful beyond discussing the etymology of “respect.” Michelin Man we missed you, but hope to catch you next time. Couldn’t replicate your enthusiasm.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Check Slack

COT: Prayers for Wet Wipes Mom, struggling with dementia, and his Dad as primary caregiver. Hedwig and his wife expecting first 2.0. Big week of tests. COUNT: 11
CONDITIONS: Immaculate

WARMUP: SSH, Leg stretchish things

THE THANG: YHC kicked off the Q with a long mosey featuring multiple sets 10 merkins strategically placed to keep the pax together. Once we hit the bridge we did sets of sprints ending with a long set of Lt Dans across the bridge. Michelin Man gave a nice complement by confirming that the Q was set too Hard Mode.

Black Lung took over for an off road mosey up to Love Hill followed by a punishing round of Merry consisting of WW1, Flutter Kicks, and Leg Raises. Proceeding with a session of partnered sprint work around the hill before heading back to the startdex.

NO BURPEE REQUEST

AO: bomber
Q: hambone
PAX: Sherlock, DintyMoore, Pep, Chunks, Hair Band, Puzzlah, Hedwig, CubCadet, Papa Bear
FNGs: None
COUNT: 10
CONDITIONS:

WARMUP: No time to waste–no warmup.

THE THANG: CubCadet requested that there be no burpees + running, and because I respect the most respected members of the most respected AO in Nashville, how could I not oblige?

The thing about the burpee is there is a whole bunch of gettin’ up and gettin’ down. Why not just cut out the extra movement and do the merkin and the squat separately? The geriatrics in the crowd approved.

Besides the running and stopping for merkins and squats, we also managed to get a quick set of pull ups and then moved over to bear crawls + other work near Nebraska Ave.

The closeout was Jacobs ladder with NO BURPEES–just merkins and squats. Work your way up to 7 and then SSH for the six.

MOLESKIN: DintyMoore was late, but he was able to follow his nose to my stank and catch up with the crew. He just knew how to get us.

Sherlock came flying in with rizzzzz because he caught lots of red lights on the way over, but he made up for it by catching up and then performing Jacob’s Ladder like a champion.

Speaking of late, Chunks came flying in on his fleet feet accompanied by Hair Band. He was pretty smoked, but “that was the pace he picked”.

Papa Bear, Hedwig I don’t want you guys to feel left out–you guys looked excellent on the bear crawls. I know you’ll lead some in the future.

Puzzlah I couldn’t notice any problems with the hip. The man is large, but he moves like butter on a lobster.

Speaking of lobster, Pep, I’m really sorry I didn’t have more at 525. Sometimes all I have to give is my love and the workout.

CubCadet, I fulfilled my promise, so even though you may not technically be AOQ, your word reigns supreme and I honor it–even if I have to use a bit of semantics to get the workout in that I want.

COT: Prayers for Hedwig’s 2nd cousin (technically?) and his awesome life and passing. Prayers for the Beam/Beem family and the loss of their child (thx DintyMoore). Prayers for Hair Band’s 5 minute move.

hambone out.
