THE THANG: 3 mile mosey with periodic merkins and core

We took off for a mosey and as we hit the trail, Robert Frost’s words echoed in my mind – two paths diverged in a yellow wood. But unlike the poet, there was no luxury of contemplation. With the last shirtless weekend of summer calling I ditched my plan and pushed the PAX through the 3 mile loop around McCabe.

Three miles of sweat and glory lay ahead, punctuated by surprise stops for merkins and core-busters. The Playlist? Pure pontoon rock – think yacht rock’s rowdier country cousin. As we pushed through, letting the six catch up at each pit stop, we sculpted our summer bodies with every step.

THE THANG: Partner up and RUN!!! Five PRs this morning and two others beat their six week average time. Overall a great effort by this group of determined men.

MOLESKINE: It is always easier to do hard things when you are doing it with someone else. Thank you for the consistency in coming out to run with this class. It made a huge difference. I think this is the fastest class we have ever had, and a lot of that credit goes to the running partners that encouraged the 4:13 Strong men to keep going.

THE THANG: Find your Pace Group and RUN!!! We had two PRs this morning: Temper Tantrum at 26:40 and Five Points with a new PR and class record 25:36. This is the fifth consecutive run that Five Points has brought home a new PR!

MOLESKINE: The F3 participation in our morning runs is making such a huge difference. I don’t think that we have ever had a class with so many sub 30 runners.

Next Tuesday is the final run with this class. I am expecting to see 8 PRs to close down this installment of Tortoise & Hare. Make plans to join us for the final run.

THE THANG: Every man was assigned a group to run with. It was the task of each man to stay with the assigned group. Doing so would ensure a Personal Record time for every 4:13 Strong man. Four were successful, six could not do it.

THE THANG: RUN!! 3 miles around the campus. Crawlspace took off and wasn’t seen again until the finish line. 8 of our 12 4:13 Strong men set PRs this morning! We were “all in” in 41:22. It was a great morning of encouragement and hard work. Thank you SalPal and Michelin Man for providing the entertainment while the six worked his way to the finish line.

MOLESKINE: I played a little rinky dink and fooled the pax by thinking we were running back to the weights–we ran past them at one point and did some extra running. YOLO.

I always enjoy adding in some weighted work. After running and bootcamping quite often, it’s good to do a metcon that is disguised as strength work.
