WARMUP: Many thanks to Three Stooges and Sally who joined me for 10 minutes of mindful breathing/meditation prior to starting. From there, we did a short parking lot mosey and stretching.

THE THANG: Despite the 2 months of lead time, all my theme ideas were a bit half-baked; so, I went simple. 4 sets of exercises, each repeated 3 times.

Set 1: The Sequence plus Broad Jumps
– 40x Plank Jacks
– 30x Mountain Climbers
– 20x Merkins
– 20x FLBACs
– 20x BLBACs
– 20x Air Presses
– Broad Jump across the short dimension of the parking lot and back

Set 2: Time to ride the bench!
– Step-ups with knee raise
– Bulgarian split squats
– One-legged stands (from seated position, while holding one leg off the ground, use your other leg to raise yourself to standing)
First round we did 20 reps per leg, then 15 reps, then 10 reps.

Set 3: Keep the benches warm! 30 seconds on, 10 seconds off, rotating through the following:
– Bench flutters (with core engaged and seated on the ground facing the bench, hold one foot above the bench seat and the other below… then swap their positions)
– Decline mountain climbers (feet on bench seat, hands on ground)
– Copenhagen plank right side (PAX were encouraged to pick a modification that worked for them. Mine was with both feet on the bench, single forearm down on the ground, doing small knee crunches with my non-supporting leg)
– Copenhagen plank left side

Set 4: Did I forget to do any hollow body holds? 40sec on, 15 sec off… 3 times through. The last hold was challenging.
– Shoulder touch plank jacks
– Hollow Body Hold

MOLESKINE: This was my first time trying to incorporate meditation at both the beginning and end of a Q. Looking for feedback from the PAX (particularly Three Stooges and Sally, but definitely chime in Toothless and Pole Dancer) on how that went for you.

One pax is the Remote
Start opposite of one another. The VCR is doing the exercise while the Remote controls the speed. If the remote is running forward, VCR goes fast. If remote is running backwards, VCR goes slow. If remote pauses, the VCR holds the current position. Switch places for 60 seconds on/60 seconds rest.

Movies watched:

– Big boy sit-ups

Thang 3: Infection!
2.0s were the infected and ran around tagging PAX to infect them. Three rounds with alternating movement types each round.
R1: Pax has to run backwards
R2: Pax has to run sideways
R3: Pax has to skip

Thang 3: Bear Tag Royal
All pax in Bear crawl. If you get your hand slapped your out and have to stand on the side and do your exercise of choice until the end (didn’t see any burpees?)

I believe FishBiscuit and AwesomeAxolotl were our champions!

Anointing – YHC was introduced to a time-honored, sacred Knoll
tradition. Upon his first time Qing at the Knoll, the Q is invited to
down a shot of olive oil. He has the option of passing off the glass
to the AOQ, but of course YHC wasn’t gonna go sawft like that. It
went down smooth and has been a constant reminder in the back of my
throat all day of the great hospitality shown by these HIMs. 😉

Coffeeteria was a solid time of 2nd F comparing regional traditions
and successes between Nashville and Katy. YHC loved hearing about the
CSAUPs here and different AO setups. I shared our growth experience
and how things like 3-4 day per week AOs and the 30/30 phenomenon have
both been successful. But the best part was hearing the historic
dominance that Knoll pax have displayed over any female wrestler who
dared step onto the mat to try her hand. Much more impressive than
YHC getting pinned by a blind wrestler freshman year of high school.
My trickeration proved futile.

Such a great morning in the gloom with my Nashville brothers across
the country. It was an honor to lead and privilege to serve. Thanks
again to Morning Star for allowing me to Q and VMax for the
hospitality all weekend hosting our family. If any Nashville pax are
in the Houston area come out on the west side and visit The Peak
anytime!

Looking back on my life, my twenties were full of adventures (travel, missionary work, moves, etc.), but now that I’m thirty, I am married with a child. There is a lot less obvious adventure in the day-to-day operations now. HOWEVER, it fills my heart just as much as the adventures did in my twenties.

How do we view adventure? How do we see the extraordinary in our daily lives? Do we see our roles as husbands and fathers as truly heroic, and do we treat them as such?

Those BEACH BODS will be better on Spring Break for having spent the morning in the rainy Gloom today.
